Elder loneliness is one of the world’s most overlooked crises.
Living in solitude often leaves our elders with more than just silence, it brings shame, deteriorating mental health, and a sense of being invisible. At TGT We, we believe no one should grow old feeling unworthy or alone. We exist to replace isolation with connection, and silence with shared stories through the simple, powerful act of togetherness.

Today, 1 in every 7 elders in Taiwan lives alone
— not by choice, but by circumstance.
In 2024, 611,800 individuals aged 65 or older were living solo. Behind closed doors, they face the quiet ache of isolation and the deep weight of being forgotten.
Our Story - How it All Began
In early 2022, Carol Hung encountered the aging crisis through someone she loved deeply, her great-grandmother. Once a lively storyteller full of warmth and laughter, her great-grandmother had grown quiet, worried about friends she had lost touch with across Taiwan. From north to south, as Carol visited other relatives, she noticed something consistent: the issue wasn’t access to healthcare, it was the emotional toll of being alone.
Many elders described feeling like a burden. Useless. Forgotten. “Like trash,” one of them said. That stayed with Carol.

Carol and her great- grandmother
But one day, after returning from an art workshop, Carol sat beside her great-grandmother, her spirit dulled by months of disconnection, and began to draw. To Carol’s surprise, something shifted. Her great-grandmother’s eyes lit up. She began to talk again, to smile, to draw. It wasn’t the art itself that healed, but the moments in between: the stories, the glances, the shared laughter.
That afternoon, Carol saw what art could do. It wasn’t just a creative outlet. It was a bridge, a way back to joy, to memory, to dignity. And that’s how TGT We began. Not as a campaign. But as a conversation — one that continues to grow, one elder at a time.
